Our conduct, our words, always reflect, in substance and form, what we are, or we think to be?
Alexander, for Diogenes to mock his manners "askance", made him deliver a tray full of bones. Diogenes accepted the "gift", was sent as reply:
"Worthy of a dog food, but not worthy of the king's gift."
Alexander the Great (obviously just a 'big'...) then had to say: "If I were not Alexander, I would be Diogenes"
